Plain answers about SEO, AEO, GEO, and how Rubricks measures whether AI assistants actually recommend your business.
Do you handle traditional SEO and AI search optimization together?
Yes — that's the point of Rubricks. Traditional SEO (how you rank in Google) and AI search optimization (how ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude describe and recommend you, sometimes called GEO or AEO) draw on the same underlying signals: clarity about what you do, structure machines can read, and credible evidence. Rubricks diagnoses and fixes both in a single engagement, so a small business doesn't need one agency for Google and another for AI.
What does Rubricks actually do, and who is it for?
Rubricks is a search and AI discovery consultancy. We measure how your business currently shows up in Google search and in AI answers, fix the clarity, structure, and authority problems limiting that visibility, and then measure whether the right customers got easier to reach. It's built for small and expert-led businesses — local service companies, consultants, and professional practices — that want evidence and measurement without enterprise overhead.
How is Rubricks different from a standard SEO agency?
Three ways. Scope: we cover AI answers from ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude alongside Google, because a growing share of customers now ask AI assistants for recommendations. Method: every engagement starts with a measured baseline and ends with measured outcomes, not a report of activities. Accountability: we track whether what the AI says about you is accurate, and whether better visibility produced better customers — not just whether you appeared.
What is GEO (generative engine optimization)?
GEO is the practice of making a business visible, correctly understood, and citable inside AI-generated answers — the prose responses from assistants like ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini. Where SEO works on where you rank in a list of links, GEO works on whether an AI system includes you when it answers a question, and whether it describes and cites you accurately.
What's the difference between SEO, AEO, and GEO?
Three questions, one goal — being found. SEO: when someone searches Google, do you appear in the results? AEO (answer engine optimization): when someone asks a specific question, does your content give a clear, trustworthy answer that engines can lift? GEO: when ChatGPT, Gemini, or Claude answers or recommends a business, are you part of it and cited correctly? They overlap heavily, because the same clarity, structure, and authority feed all three.
Can you actually optimize for ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini?
You can't control what a model says, and the interfaces keep changing. You can control what it has to work with: the durable information layer beneath every assistant — how clearly you describe what you do, whether the right page can be retrieved, and whether credible evidence exists to trust the answer. Rubricks improves that layer, then measures whether the answers change.
How do you measure whether AI assistants recommend my business?
We run a defined set of real customer questions against the assistants and record where you appear, how you're described, whether you make the shortlist, and whether you're cited correctly — then track that over time to detect change. We tie it back to real outcomes: inquiries, appointments, and revenue, not vanity metrics.
Do I need to replace my marketing or development team?
No. Rubricks diagnoses the problem and defines what should change, then hands it to your team as implementation-ready specs, content, and code — or puts it live itself. If you have a team, we work with it. If you don't, we handle it.
How long does an engagement take, and what does it look like?
A typical first engagement is 90 days, measured: baseline what's true now, fix what the diagnosis calls for, and re-measure whether the right customers got easier to reach. It's a loop that repeats, with each round's measurement feeding the next baseline.
What kinds of businesses is Rubricks for?
Local and service businesses that need to be found where they work; expert-led firms that need to turn expertise into evidence search engines and AI systems can trust; and growing organizations that want to be discovered by buyers who don't yet know their name.
Will more visibility actually bring in customers?
That's the point, and it's why we measure it. Visibility with no commercial purpose isn't the goal. We trace discovery through to a real outcome — an inquiry, an appointment, a relationship, revenue. If better discovery doesn't move the business, that's a finding, not a success.
